1876—2026

150years

Industry remembered.
Community celebrated.

In 1876, Alexander Morton introduced the power loom, helping to transform Darvel, Newmilns and Galston into a centre of textile excellence. A century and a half later, the industry’s human legacy still runs through the Irvine Valley.

The Warp & The Weft brings those memories together: the skill of the workers, the rhythm of mill life and the stories passed from one generation to the next.
