A bright Saturday began with gazebos and market stalls. It ended with three live acts and around 300 people gathered at The Corner.
Remember the day

A day with two halves
Saturday 25 April dawned warm and sunny. The market opened in the morning, but the site had also to become an outdoor music venue ready for the evening.
The transformation looked straightforward from the crowd. Behind it sat a full day of setting up, coordinating traders, preparing equipment and moving everything into place.
From first lift to first note
Volunteers arrived to set up gazebos, tables, chairs and the practical workings of the day.
Stallholders had time to unload, arrange their goods and get ready before the market opened.
The Corner filled with stalls and people. The music equipment was already being prepared for later.
Three acts took to the stage and a crowd of around 300 gathered for the first big music night of the year.
The first big music night of 2026
Debbie Campbell opened the evening, accompanied on guitar by Scott Nicholl. The Pistol Daisies followed, before The 77 Affair returned by popular demand to close the night.
The Bulletin recorded repeated praise for both the music and the organisation. It was a memorable evening because the performances worked and because the place around them worked too.

What the crowd does not see
Gazebos, tables, chairs and equipment do not put themselves up. When large events sit close together in the calendar, a small volunteer team carries a great deal of practical work.
The Bulletin’s message was simple: helping at the beginning or end of an event does not require a major commitment. A couple of hours can make the whole day possible.
There is work in it, but also laughter, teamwork and the satisfaction of helping create something the town remembers.
