Commemorated on panels 12/13 at Le Touret Memorial Cemetery Pas de Calais, France

His brother, William Gower Robinson, sergeant with the royal fusiliers was killed in action on 25 April 1915 at Ypres and is commemorated on panel 6/8 at the Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.

father was a professional soldier and in the census of 1891 is shown as a sergeant major in the royal engineers stationed at Maryhill in Glasgow.

As a professional soldier he would serve outwith Scotland and any children born would be registered in the country of birth. This was the days of the British empire

Mentioned in despatches, meaning he was reported to higher command for meritorious service or gallantry. The decoration at this time consisted of a cluster of oak leaves in bronze.
